The Baltimore Box is Back!

The collection box for helping unhoused folks in Baltimore will resume collections on Sunday, September 6th. Liz and Laura send thanks in advance and look forward to keeping everyone up-to-date on the folks we are helping. A new “wish list” is available:

OUR MOST URGENT NEEDS

• Kotex/pads — please, no tampons

• Toilet paper

• Body wipes

• Dog food

These necessities cannot be purchased with SNAP benefits and can be especially difficult for our friends to obtain.

FOOD

  • Pull-top canned soups & stews — please remember: no can opener = one very frustrating can of soup!
  • Soft beef jerky — preferably the kind that doesn’t announce its presence from across the room
  • Small bags of trail mix or dried fruit
  • Gummies/lunchbox fruit snacks
  • Soft, healthy granola bars — dental problems make hard foods difficult
  • Hard candy — helpful for people with diabetes who may need quick sugar

CLOTHING & SHOES

  • New underwear and socks
  • Belts — hunger causes significant weight loss, and suddenly pants don’t fit
  • Jeans, sweatpants/elastic-waist pants and T-shirts in decent condition
  • Practical shoes in new or good condition-Men’s 8.5-11
  • Women’s shoes, especially sizes 7–9
  • Slip-ons are especially useful for swollen feet
  • Athletic shoes and practical boots for the colder months

Please think practical: nothing fancy. These clothes and shoes live hard lives and need to hold up and be easily worn.

ONE MORE REQUEST: PLEASE HOLD All WINTER ITEMS!

Beginning in November, we’ll happily accept winter clothing.

Thank you for continuing to help us remind our neighbors in Baltimore that they have not been forgotten.

With enormous gratitude,
Laura & Liz
