Dia de Muertos (Day of the Dead) and Halloween are celebrations of remembrance and fun in the face of death. How serious is this? UUFE’s Jean Rhian will lead this service and will be joined by UUFE members Don Barker, Peter Paul, and Sally Woodall … read more.
UUFE’s Don Barker will explore Gotama the Buddha’s original teaching about Nirvana as found in the Pali Canon. For Gotama, Nirvana was like a clearing in the tangled forest of reactivity – a place where we can pause, take a breather, and look around at what’s actually going on. At any moment.
At our final service of the year, near winter solstice, UUFE’s Don Barker will read some of the death, rebirth, and eternal life traditions believed and practiced by the major religions and some less well-known faiths. We’ll compare these traditions to our own stories of death and afterlife, and consider how these stories have changed throughout our lives.
