The Fellowship’s Social Justice Committee is proud to offer our members a unique opportunity this month through its special outreach monthly collection program. This month, we are asking members to contribute to Asbury United Methodist Church, a black church we have partnered with for years in addressing racial injustice issues in our community.
Asbury is one of the oldest churches in Easton and is the life-center of the historic Hill Neighborhood. For years, meals for needy families have been prepared in its kitchen and distributed by many of our members. UUFE’s participation has been led for years by Mary Young.
Now Asbury can use everyone’s help. The church is hoping to raise $75,000 so that they can do critical renovations to the first floor, which serves as both common room and kitchen. These are repairs that will ensure that the church can reopen to continue its community food mission in a safe and healthy facility. Sadly, the need for the 150 hot meals and 200 Thanksgiving dinners typically prepared for the needy has only increased.
Please contribute generously to this special collection during the first week of October so that this vital work at Asbury can continue.
You can donate to Asbury in one of two ways:
- Use our online donation page and make a note that your donation is for Outreach – Asbury Church. Or…
- You can write a check to Asbury with a note at the bottom signifying that it is for the Social Justice Cornmittee’s special collection for and mail to:
