Our mission is to create a music ministry within the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship at Easton that enhances the experience of worship, provides a variety of music programs, and reaches out to the larger community. Music energizes the worship experience, and we are committed to providing exciting and diverse musical experiences of excellent quality that are spiritually fulfilling for the congregation, the musicians, and for the community.
Music Director – Ellen Barry Grunden
Ellen has been involved in church, school and community music programs since childhood. From 2008 to this past summer, she organized music for band and singers at one of the three services at St. Mark’s UMC in Easton as well as special programs at the church. She has also been involved in local theatre for almost twenty years both on stage and in the pit, often as music director.
She is the Deputy State’s Attorney for Talbot County and lives in Easton. She has one son, Nick, who lives in Spain where he is pursuing a master’s degree in neuroscience.
The UUFE Choir, under the direction of Ellen Barry Grunden, sings at two services each month. The choir rehearses on Thursday nights (7:00-8:30) and sings a wide variety of musical selections from classic hymns to modern and international music. New members are always welcome!
Easton Folk Jam Sessions
A friendly, casual music circle, the Folk Jam meets normally on the 2nd Friday of each month. Participants can lead a song or tune, “pass” and participate, or just listen! Acoustic instruments, please. Families and listeners are always welcome. Coffee is available.
Hosted by Dave Moore, Dick Hogle, and Beth Lawton.
Contact Beth at (518) 929-1835 if you have questions or concerns.
The Congregation Sings!
For some special events, like the Valentine’s Day or Spring Sing-a-long, members of the congregation join choir members in making beautiful music.
The Music Committee is headed by Chair Dick Doughty.
