Saturday, March 24, 2018
On Saturday, March 24, there will be a national mobilization to end gun violence and school shootings led by the students from Parkland, FL. March For Our Lives events will take place at locations across the country. Information actions in Washington DC and Chestertown are described below.
In Washington DC
The March is currently scheduled to begin at Noon on Pennsylvania Ave NW. UUs plan to gather at Indiana Ave NW & 7th St NW (Corner of Starbucks & Potbelly), near the Archives Navy Memorial Metro Station. (While this is the hopeful gathering spot, plans at these events often get confusing; wearing UU ‘garb’ does help us find one another!)
Note: Rabbi Peter Hyman has offered to charter a bus from Easton for anyone interested. To reserve a seat, kindly call the Temple office and speak with Nancy: 410-822-0553.
For those interested in being part of related events sponsored by UUs, there are opportunities to partner with you and adults from All Souls Unitarian, the Unitarian Universalist Church of Arlington and other groups. Please check bit.ly/UUMFOL for details.
“March for Our Lives” On March 24, Chestertown will host a march in solidarity with communities throughout the country to support prevention of gun violence in our schools and our lives. We’ll meet at the County Office Building, 400 High St. in Chestertown, at Noon and march to Wilmer Park for guest speakers and other activities. To date, this is the only march on Maryland’s eastern shore that is listed on the national website. There will be a sign making session on March 21, 5 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. at the Chestertown library. For information contact Lynn Dolinger, email@example.com
As of now, these are the details I am aware of – please let me know if there are any questions. I do plan to attend the march.
