Fresh Start is a nonprofit Transitional Supportive Housing Program for people recovering from substance abuse addiction. Our goal is to provide a stable housing environment complemented by aggressive case management to assist the residents achieve sobriety, independence and self sufficiency to enhance their possibilities for future success.
Individuals in the early stage of substance abuse recovery often encounter multiple problems which may impede their efforts to remain clean and sober. In addition to the addiction itself, there are often housing, employment , legal and family problems.
Support in areas such as housing, jobs and appropriate emotional and social skills contribute to the greater likelihood the the recovering individual will remain clean and sober long term. The Fresh Start Program provides the Mid-Shore area with a transitional supportive housing program for persons who have completed a drug and/or alcohol treatment program.
All residents are expected to be employed within one month of enrolling in Fresh Start. Residents pay for room and board based on a sliding scale according to respective incomes. Classes focusing on development of life management skills are mandatory. These skills include budgeting, problem solving, stress management, and using alternatives to violence. Stays within the program range from 4 months to one year. As residents approach the end of the program they work with a staff member to develop a transition plan with regard to housing, employment and continued sobriety.
The Mid-Shore Fresh Start Program is a 501 c 3 non-profit corporation so that all donations are tax deductible.
