Spring in the RE Wing

This month the elementary gang will be exploring the idea of fair group decisions during their Sunday morning meeting time. Using the fifth Principle as a guide, we’ll examine different methods of making group decisions, practice making group decisions in a hypothetical situation, and learn about our own congregation’s governance systems.

Our spring youth night will take place at UUFE on Friday evening, April 1st. Middle and High School youth are welcome to come for snacks, games, fellowship and fun! 6-8:00 PM

Lauren Harton is teaming up with folks from the Unitarian Universalists at Chester River to offer Our Whole Lives (OWL) programming to our youth this month. Presented over four Sundays and alternating between Chestertown and Easton meetings, the youth will be treated to “honest, accurate information about how sexuality changes lives. [OWL] dismantles stereotypes and assumptions, builds self-acceptance and self-esteem, fosters healthy relationships, and improves decision making.”

All parents of middle and high schoolers are invited to a relaxing evening at Rev Sue’s waterfront home in Newcomb on Saturday, April 2nd at 6:00 PM. We will share thoughts, ideas, dreams, and concerns about our middle and high school youth as well as take the time to think about middle and high school programming at UUFE in the coming year.

On April 10th we will celebrate our Mystery Friends program at our annual Spring Potluck after the service. This year we had seventeen pairs of mystery friends–ranging in age from five to 85–correspond with one another, exchanging letters and cards with tidbits of fun and insightful information about each other.

On April 16th the Pachamama Alliance will present their Wakening the Dreamer symposium at UUFE. They have decided to add a children’s program to their agenda which includes activities like making a watershed, exploring worm farming, breaking into action groups to brainstorm solutions to environmental problems, and participating in a poster contest. Donations are welcomed, but the symposium is free. Register here, and include your children’s names and ages in the memo box: http://www.pachamama.org/workshop/3016/symposium-at-uufe

Happy Spring!
